South Australian Primary School Amateur Sports
SAPSASA Sports and Carnivals 2023
At the start of each year, students in Year 4-6 have the opportunity to nominate their interest to compete in a variety of School Sport SA and SAPSASA knockout sports and carnivals that are on offer throughout the year. Sign-up sheets will be outside the hall in Term 1, Week 2 and 3 (Monday-Wednesday), for students to nominate their interest.
At Nailsworth Primary School, we support our student’s involvement in sporting opportunities by making a significant financial contribution towards sport. Unfortunately, it is not viable or sustainable for the school to cover all costs involved. Therefore, a $20 co-payment is required for all off-site sporting events in which your child is representing Nailsworth Primary School. Please note, if your child is selected in a district or state team, additional costs will apply.
Knockout Sports and Carnivals
Knockout sports and carnivals on offer for Year 5/6 students include: soccer (girls and boys), netball (girls), football (girls and boys), cricket (girls and boys), basketball (girls and boys), and athletics (girls and boys).
Knockout sports and carnivals on offer for Year 4 students include: tennis (girls and boys) and athletics (girls and boys).
If there are enough participants who have expressed their interest in the sports above, we will nominate to enter in the competition/carnival.
Depending on numbers, students may need to trial to be selected in their nominated sport. If selected, students must commit to attend trainings in the lead up to the event, before/after school or during play times.
Swimming and Cross Country
Year 4-6 students can also nominate to compete in individual SAPSASA sports, including swimming and cross country. Please note, only students born in 2011, 2012 and 2013 are eligible for selection.
During PE lessons, Year 4-6 students will have the opportunity to qualify in their age group for the school athletics team, which will compete at the annual North Adelaide Athletics Day at Santos Stadium. Events on offer include: shot put, discus, high jump, long jump, 100m, 200m, 800m and 100m-relay. Students who win their event at the North Adelaide Athletics Day are invited to compete at the State Day Finals. Please note, only students born in 2011, 2012 and 2013 are eligible for selection.
North Adelaide SAPSASA District Team nomination process: Year 5/6 students
The following information is only for Year 5/6 students who wish to nominate to trial for selection in the North Adelaide District Teams in 2023.
Nominations are open to all students via the QR code below, except for Boys AFL, Boys Soccer, Boys Cricket and Girls Netball. As the numbers of students trialling in these sports are large, each school is required to nominate their strongest five participants for these sports. The nominated students will then be directed to nominate via the QR code or link provided to them by the school. The school will pass on all relevant trial information for each sport throughout the year to the nominated students.
Students who have not nominated online before the trials will not be eligible to attend trials. This is to ensure supervision ratios are maintained for a safe environment.
Once you have submitted your nomination, you will receive a confirmation email and a copy of the form will be sent to the school as confirmation that you are nominating your child for a particular sport. This form will be retained by the school as a record of their involvement as per the DfE records management policy and procedure.
- Nominate your child for a sport via the QR code
- Receive email confirmation.
- Attend 3 trials – the school will pass on trial information to relevant students for each sport.
- If selected, you will receive further details about the carnival, trainings and cost ($80-$100).
Please phone or email any queries to George Koulianos (school SAPSASA representative) in the first instance, or Michelle Richter (North Adelaide Convenor).
